This freestanding PVC dummy is a good imitation of the traditional wooden Wing Chun dummy but at half the cost.
The standard model comes with a 54" PVC body, three solid hardwood arms, and a set of adjustable steel legs. The Schedule 40 white PVC trunk is 1/4" thick and almost 8-3/4" in diameter. The arms are made from laminated oak. The legs are 14 gauge tubular steel. Total weight including body, arms and legs is about 85 lbs. This type of jong is supported by three bolt-on adjustable steel tubular legs. Each leg has a flat “boot" attached to the adjustable insert. The boot is equipped with holes for either permanent mounting to the floor or some type of platform ---or can be fitted with heavy duty swivel lock wheels for more mobility and a more realistic whole body movement of the jong.
You can customize your PVC Dummy by upgrading parts such as the front kicking leg, arms, applying custom painting, etc. Below is a description of some of the standard options available on Great Lion dummies:
Unbreakable Steel Core Laminated Wood Legs
One of the really great options is to wood laminate each leg of the dummy to give it the "all wood" look. Because these wood laminate legs have a steel core they are unbreakable which is perfect for doing pak gerks or other forceful techniques.
Purpleheart Dummy Arms
Purpleheart (Peltogyne) is native to tropical regions of Central and South America. The trees are prized for their beautiful heartwood which, when cut, quickly turns from a dark brown to a rich purple color. The dry wood is very hard and dense with a specific gravity of 0.86 (54 lb/ft^3 or 860 kg/m^3).
Cocobolo Dummy Arms
Cocobolo is a hardwood from Central America. It is a very beautiful wood, known to change color after being cut. The heartwood is typically orange or reddish-brown in color, often with a figuring of darker irregular traces weaving through the wood. Due to its density and hardness, Cocobolo can be polished to a lustrous, glassy finish.
All Great Lion Dummies come in a standard configuration with durable parts built for years of training. However, we understand that one size does not fit all, so each and every dummy can be custom-configured to your needs by selecting various upgrade options for the Arms, Legs, etc.
